Here is a recap from the September 6 peer support group along with some information about the BC Palliative Care Benefits Program that some were asking about…
SEPT 6 session recap:
Our meeting started with a catch-up. Several members are adjusting to new medications and shared information on their experiences. The group spoke to the anxiety that for some of us comes before we have a scan and then the wait after the scan to have the results interpreted. A member of the group said that scan results are usually posted around 3 days after the scan. Kathy suggested that if it was going to be a long time to wait, before a scheduled Oncologists appt., to make an appointment with your G.P., and have him/her read the results for you. Ensure that any tests you are having done to have your GP copied on the results.
There was also discussion about possible benefits that might be useful for members on their Cancer Journey. Kathy brought in the BC Palliative Care Benefits Program application. There is a form that needs to be filled in by your Doctor. This information will be available to look at in an accordion file folder for the Ruby Slipper Support Group at the Community Resource Centre.
